Antwerp hits double on the transfer market: Great Old completes the arrival of Vines and Eggestein | Antwerp

Sam Vines, a 22-year-old US international, comes over from Colorado Rapids, and signed for 3 years (with option). The transfer had been in the air for some time, but was delayed because the left back was active with his country in the Gold Cup. In the night from Sunday to Monday, he won that North and Central American country tournament with the United States. Vines came in after 65 minutes and played for an hour because there were overtime. He also scored the winning goal in the group match against Haiti.

Johannes Eggestein (23) is then definitively taken over from Werder Bremen, where his contract expired at the end of this season. He signed for the Bosuil until June 2024. In Germany, the center striker was known as a super talent a few years ago, Manchester United and Liverpool, among others, followed him. He also went through all the youth series at Die Mannschaft. In recent years he played 47 games (5 goals) in the Bundesliga, but last season he was loaned by Bremen to the Austrian LASK Linz. There he would get more opportunities to play. And effective: in 39 games Eggestein scored 20 times, he also provided 9 assists. One of those goals was in the Europa League against Antwerp.

At the Bosuil Eggestein has to become an extra weapon for Brian Priske in the front and help to take care of the succession of Dieumerci Mbokani. The German will probably already be eligible to play for Sunday’s match against Standard, for Vines that is a bit more difficult.
