Addesi to the Tokyo Paralympics, Mauro Sciulli of CIP Abruzzo: “A medal from Pierpaolo as a symbol of Abruzzo sport”

The Italian para-cycling national team has landed in Tokyo a week ago and the Azzurri led by technical commissioner Mario Valentini (by far the most successful city in the world of all sports) tested the Japanese track that will host the time trials scheduled for Tuesday 31st. August. A fundamental training session that allowed the Italian athletes to become familiar with the Fuji Speedway circuit and with very high humidity.

The sensations of the blue group are more than positive as well as for our top athlete of the national team Pierpaolo Addesi who will run the time trial on the 31st over the distance of 32 kilometers in the MC5 category (at 13:51 local, 6:51 in Italy) as further step towards the online test on Friday 3 September (the time between 2:30 and 9:45 in Italy is being defined) in which it will measure its ambitions to try to conquer the podium.

Mauro Sciulli, regional president of CIP Abruzzo: “Very little is missing from his debut in cycling and personally I am particularly excited by the presence of the athlete from Abruzzo as well as a friend of a thousand moments, a pivotal man and symbol of the Paralympic movement of our region as the Italian Paralympic Committee. I really wish Pierpaolo with all my heart to bring home a medal that would be a very important symbol for Abruzzo sport and for the Paralympic family in particular.”.

From para-cycling to judo, where Carolina Costa got on the third step of the podium for an amazing result with a pinch of Abruzzo thanks to Silvio Tavoletta, from Chieti, FISPIC technician (Italian Federation of Paralympic Sports for the Visually Impaired and the Blind), whose work behind the scenes preparation allowed the Sicilian judoka to win another precious bronze medal for Italy in the highest Paralympic review.
