a new face at the head of Febabu – IWACU

Jean Paul Manirakiza was unanimously elected president of the Burundi Basketball Federation (FEBABU), it was this Saturday, August 7, fans of the orange ball expect a lot from him and his whole team.

The new president of FEBABU was elected for a four-year term. He was the only candidate for this post and he won with a score of 100% of the vote.

After a long period of tug-of-war between Sef Sabushimike and Athanase Kararuza for the presidency of Febabu, basketball players and fans are hoping for a change with the new bodies of the federation.
Satisfaction for KN, player of one of the Bujumbura teams: “I appreciated the election of Jean Paul Manirakiza because I only dream of promoting basketball where a player can live thanks to his talents. This cannot be achieved when the federation is divided ”.

And KI, a basketball lover, lets it be known that she welcomed the election of Mr. Manirakiza and hopes that he will come as the savior of Burundian basketball than to worsen the problems that were there. She asks the new bodies to do their best to ensure that the national team wins regional cups.

Mr. Manirakiza presented his priorities to achieve his vision for Burundian basketball, “Modern, professional and competitive basketball”.

It is among other things the popularization of Burundian basketball, restructuring of the championship in the form of a league, promotion of women’s basketball, creation of a training center, better supervision of the national team and many others.

He introduced the members of his executive committee and indicated that within 15 days, the regulation of the status of Burundian basketball players will be unveiled.
