4-0 win against 1. FC Kaiserlautern: Viktoria 89 Berlin is unstoppable – sport

The Jahn-Sportpark has seldom experienced major football festivals recently. On Sunday, however, the stadium in the Prenzlauer Berg district shook. The league leader in the third football league is currently unstoppable: After Eintracht Braunschweig, third division Viktoria 89 Berlin also dealt with the next traditional club, again with a 4-0 (2-0). After taking the lead early on, Benedetto Muzzicato’s team never faced any difficulties against 1. FC Kaiserslautern and after a sovereign performance they remain at the top of the table.

In front of 4221 spectators in the Jahn-Sportpark, the Berliners managed a tailor-made start. After three minutes Björn Jopek gave him the early lead when he fell. When Kaiserslautern got stronger shortly before the break, Viktoria struck back in the manner of a top team. Tolcay Cigerci won the ball against former Bundesliga professional Felix Götze and scored alone in front of Kaiserslautern goalkeeper Matheo Raab into the short corner. “The thing is that we are effective and score goals at the right moments,” said Victoria coach Muzzicato after the game.

The many guest fans who had traveled with them said goodbye to both teams with whistles at half-time. After the break, the hosts started effectively again. After preliminary work by Cigerci and Küc, Viktoria striker Falcao scored 3-0 in the 52nd minute of the game. By then the game was over, so coach Muzzicato could afford to take his two goal scorers Cigerci, who hit the post just before, and Falcao off the field in the 68th minute. That didn’t affect his team’s game. However, Viktoria missed a few counter opportunities, something Muzzicato desperately wants to work on with his team.

Substitute Erhan Yilmaz also scored five minutes from time on his third division debut to make it 4-0. Newcomer Soufian Benyamina only just missed a similarly good debut (90th). In the general hilarity in the Jahn-Sportpark, there was another moment of shock. In 74 minutes, Felix Götze from Lauter was forced to leave the field after a head injury with the stretcher. According to Kaiserslautern’s trainer Marco Antwerpen, Götze was immediately taken to the hospital.

After three wins from the first three games, Viktoria is at the top of the third division with a goal difference of 10: 1. As early as next Friday (7 p.m.) there is a chance to defend the championship lead against Halleschen FC at home.
