2020 Olympics: Djokovic advances to the round of 16 singles in tennis, Zverev and Medvedev too

The table of the 8th of the Olympic tennis tournament is emerging.

Novak Djokovic, world No. 1, qualified for the third round (round of 16) of the men’s singles tennis tournament. On Monday, the Serbian beat German Jan-Lennard Struff (ATP 48) 6-4, 6-3 in 1 hour and 34 minutes.

Djokovic will meet in the next round the Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich Fokina (ATP 34), winner 6-4, 6-7 (4/7), 6-3 of the Australian John Millman (ATP 44). The Serb, winner this year of the Australian Open, Roland Garros and Wimbledon, is aiming for the “Golden Grand Slam”, namely to win the four major tournaments and Olympic gold in the same year. The Russian Daniil Medvedev, second player in the world, won 6-2, 6-1 against Indian Sumit Nagal (ATP 160). Italian Fabio Fognini (ATP 31), winner 6-4, 7-6 (7/4) of Belarusian Egor Gerasimov (ATP 79), awaits him in the round of 16.
