Willson Contreras hit his 16th home run of the year to lead the Cubs’ 6-5 victory over the Reds.
In the bottom of the eighth, he caught a broken pitch from Josh Osich that stayed in the middle of the plate.
The ball ended up in the left field seats and tied the actions 5-5.
In the next inning, Javier Báez left Cincinnatti on the field with a single that led Patrick Wisdom to the rubber.
The winner of the compromise was closer Craig Kimbrel as he pitched the ninth safely, conceding a single hit.

The loser was Heath Hembree, after being relieved by allowing two walks and hitting a pitch.
Amir Garrett conceded a hit and the race fell to Hembree.
