Wenger says England are hard to stop at Euro 2020

Jakarta

England managed to reach the semifinals of the 2020 European Cup without conceding at all. The Three Lions squad is now seeded to be the champion.

England just beat Ukraine four goals without reply in the quarter-final match which was held in Rome, Sunday (4/7/2021) early morning hrs. Harry Kane scored two goals, the rest scored by Harry Maguire and Jordan Henderson.

The appearance of Gareth Southgate’s foster children received praise from former Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger. Moreover, England is so tough as a team, being the only semifinalist who recorded a clean sheet.

That statistic is much better than Spain and Denmark who have conceded 5 goals. Other semifinalists, namely Italy have also conceded 2 times.

With the semi-finals and final to be played at Wembley, this will be a distinct advantage for England. Indeed, during the tournament, England barely left the cage, except for the big 8 round. Fresher physique, greater moral support.

“They didn’t concede, got through easily and were able to rest important players,” Wenger told beIN Sports after the Ukraine vs England match, quoted by Metro.

“Ukraine conceded three bad goals, and the second goal killed them. After that it was easy for England, but the important thing is that they don’t concede. That’s an important quality to get to the final and win.”

“They are so stable in defence. They are still looking for the perfect solution going forward, but I believe they will be difficult to stop. They will return to London for the semifinal match, so it is difficult to stop them from advancing to the final,” explained the 71-year-old man.

England will meet Denmark on Thursday (8/7) at 02.00 WIB.
