Val-des-Cerfs is dedicating $ 12 million to upgrading its building stock

EDUCATION. The Val-des-Cerfs School Services Center (CSSVDC) is taking advantage of the summer vacation to make improvements to its building stock. No less than 150 projects are on the program for cumulative investments of $ 12 million.

The CSSVDC asset maintenance plan provides for work in five of the six secondary schools, in the two vocational and general adult education centers and in the majority of the 33 elementary schools in Brome-Missisquoi and Haute-Yamaska.

“Most of the work has been underway since the end of the school year and should be completed by mid-August, with some exceptions,” says Mario Beauvais, director of the material resources department – projects division in Val-des-Cerfs.

The latter adds that some work could be postponed to summer 2022 or postponed in time in the event of supply problems linked to the pandemic or to any other external factor.

“At Mgr-Desranleau school, we have planned to install a temporary ventilation unit in case there is a delay in the delivery of the new system. It’s written in the quotes. During the modernization of the sanitary blocks of the Saint-Léon, Saint-André and Saint-Bernard schools, contractors may also have to reinstall the old toilets while awaiting the arrival of new ones ”, indicates Mr. Beauvais, by way of example.

Secondary schools and vocational centers

Val-des-Cerfs notably undertakes interior and exterior masonry work, the cleaning of part of the ventilation system and the development of a disc-golf course at the Jean-Jacques-Bertrand school.

In Massey-Vanier, work is being done on modernizing the teaching kitchen and renovating the exterior stairs located under the main entrance and around the Roland-Désourdy arena.

In Wilfrid-Léger, we are expanding the parking lot, replacing certain elevator components and completing the development of the baseball field.

The CSSVDC is also making changes to the ventilation and electrical distribution systems of the Haute-Ville school, in addition to replacing certain components of the elevator and carrying out various interior and exterior masonry work at L’Envolée. Nothing special this year at J.-H.-Leclerc.

We are also taking advantage of the summer vacation to complete the layout of the machine shop at Campus Brome-Missisquoi and complete the roof repair work at the Integrated Regional Training Center (CRIF). Interior work is also planned at the same location.
