Tokyo Olympics: who will be the tricolor flag bearers?

The two lucky winners (man and woman), who will carry the flag of France at the opening ceremony of the Tokyo Olympics, will be known on Monday.

France has indeed converted to the possibility opened by the International Olympic Committee in March 2020 of a flag-bearer pair during the opening ceremony of the Summer Olympics. It is therefore a duo that will succeed Teddy Riner, who officiated at the Rio Olympics in 2016.

The candidates are: judoka Clarisse Agbegnenou, surfer Johanne Defay, Sandrine Gruda (basketball), Maïva Hamadouche (boxing), Kristina Mladenovic (tennis), Mélina Robert-Michon (disc), Charline Picon (windsurfing), Samir Ait-Saïd (gymnast), Maxime Beaumont (canoe-kayak), Renaud Lavillenie, Florent Manaudou (swimming), Astier Nicolas (horse riding).

Among Paralympic athletes: Stéphane Houdet (wheelchair tennis), Sandrine Martinet (para-judo), Perle Bouge (para-rowing), Nantenin Keita (para-athletics), David Smetanine (para-swimming), Pierre Fairbank (para-athletics ), Souhad Ghazouani (para-bench press).

They will be appointed by “ambassadors” from each federation via a points system.
