Tokyo Olympics tennis matches to start later

The extremely strong heat in Tokyo had particularly hurt the tennis players involved in the various tables of the Olympic Games since the start of the event at the end of last week. The Spanish Paula Badosa even had to go out in a wheelchair, her head under a towel.

So, this Wednesday, the International Tennis Federation (ITF), in consultation with the International Olympic Committee (IOC), decided to postpone the start of the matches for the end of the tournaments in Tokyo. From Thursday, the matches will no longer start at 11 a.m., as they have for five days, but at 3 p.m. Athletes should therefore play in less heavy and humid conditions.

The progression of the various tables allows in particular this adjustment since there are fewer and fewer matches to be placed on the program each day. From Thursday, the men’s singles quarter-finals and the women’s singles semi-finals begin.
