Novak Djokovic’s hopes of winning an individual medal at these Olympic Games were dashed this Saturday after falling to Spanish Pablo Carreño in the fight for bronze at Tokyo 2020.

The day before, on Friday, the Serbian had lost the opportunity to complete a “Golden Slam” after being defeated by Alexander Zverev in the semifinals.

Had a chance to become the first man to win all four Grand Slam titles and an Olympic gold medal in the same year, a feat called “Golden Slam” and that only the German got Steffi Graf in 1988.

Djokovic, number one in the world today, fell to Carreño 4-6, 7-6, 6-3 at Ariake Tennis Park in Tokyo.
