Sören Opti not to Olympics after all because of positive COVID-19 test

by archysport

Unfortunately, the Surinamese Olympic Committee has to inform the Surinamese community that a last minute change is taking place in the delegation that will represent Suriname at the Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan.

Delegation member and athlete Sören Opti was tested positive for the mandatory Covid-19 test before departure. The SOC immediately informed the national and international organizations involved and, together with all stakeholders, is taking the necessary measures to guarantee our delegation a safe participation and return home through the difficult times of the pandemic.

The SOC wishes the Surinamese Badminton Bond, their athlete and coach strength in dealing with this dramatic event.

The part of the delegation still in Suriname will travel today and will eventually arrive in Tokyo via the United States of America.
