The Italian Sara Errani will be the third tennis player of the Italian women’s team in the
Tokyo Olympics, along with Camila Giorgi and Jasmine Paolini, and will also accompany the male members of the team, Matteo Berrettini, finalist in Wimbledon, and Fabio Fognini, among others.

Errani, 34, who became number 5 in the WTA classification (currently 105), will participate in her fourth Olympic Games after the resignation of Martina Trevisan due to an injury, reported the Italian Tennis Federation (FIT) in a statement.
The Italian tennis player was a finalist at Roland Garros in 2012, the year of her emergence, in which she was proclaimed doubles champion along with fellow Italian Roberta Vinci at Roland Garros and the United States Open.

The Italian tennis team in Tokyo 2020 will be made up of seven athletes in total, because in addition to Errani, Giorgi and Paolini in the women’s team, Lorenzo Musetti and Lorenzo Sonego in the men’s team will compete alongside Berrettini and Fognini.
One of the notable absences will be that of Jannik Sinner, the young promise of Italian tennis of only 19 years old, who refused to participate in these Olympic Games.
