PSG has a new goalkeeper: European champion Gianluigi Donnarumma comes from Milan, he should earn a princely salary.

Italy’s national goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma is moving from AC Milan to Paris Saint-Germain. The Ligue 1 runners-up officially announced the goalkeeper’s transfer on Wednesday. Since Donnarumma’s contract with Milan expires, he is hired for a free transfer at PSG.

“I’m happy to be part of this big club. I feel ready to take on this new challenge and develop here. With PSG I want to win as much as possible and give the fans a lot of joy,” said Donnarumma.

Donnarumma’s move to the Seine had been apparent for weeks. Milan director Paolo Maldini announced weeks ago that they had not been able to agree on an extension of the working paper with the 22-year-old. A few days ago, Donnarumma completed his medical check-up at PSG.

PSG: Gianluigi Donnarumma signs until 2026

The keeper, who is represented by star advisor Mino Raiola, signed a contract in Paris that will run until 2026. According to a report by the Gazzetta dello Sport should earn his salary at ten million euros per year in the future. He was also traded as a newcomer to top English clubs, FC Barcelona and Juventus Turin.

It is still open whether Donnarumma will compete with the previous number one Keylor Navas in Paris, or whether the veteran from Costa Rica will be given up.

Donnarumma won the European Championship with Italy’s national team a few days ago. In the final against England he became the match winner on penalties.

In Milan, Donnarumma has stood between the posts of the professional team since 2015 and has since completed 251 missions.

Milan had already prepared for an exit of the self-growth a few weeks ago and signed Mike Maignan from PSG rivals OSC Lille. For him, the Rossoneri transferred 13 million euros to the French title holder.

Donnarumma third free transfer PSG access after Wijnaldum and Ramos

Donnarumma is with Hakan Calhanoglu (changes to Inter Milan) the second well-known departure from Milan. The Turkish international is also moving without a transfer fee due to his expiring contract.

PSG have meanwhile bagged the third free transfer after Liverpool’s Georginio Wijnaldum and Sergio Ramos from Real Madrid.
