PSG: Donnarumma, it’s signed!

The best Euro player is officially a PSG player. As expected, transalpine goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma signed a 5-year contract with PSG on Wednesday. The Italian becomes PSG’s 4th summer recruit after the arrivals of Georginio Wijnaldum (Liverpool), Achraf Hakimi (Inter Milan) and Sergio Ramos (Real Madrid). The 22-year-old international goalkeeper (32 caps) (37 Serie A games for the 2020-2021 season) had been free since his contract with AC Milan, his training club, ended last month. The youngest goalkeeper to start in Serie A at the age of 16, Donnarumma played six seasons with the Rossoneri (251 games in all competitions) with only one title, the Supercopa in 2016.

Even if everything was settled between the two parties, Donnarumma therefore signed this Wednesday the last documents necessary to formalize his arrival in Paris until 2026 when he had passed his medical examination during the Euro on June 21 between the end of the first round and the round of 16.

The goalkeeper comes out of an exceptional European Nations Championship after which he won his first title with Squadra Azzurra, while being voted best player of the tournament. Author of three clean sheets during the group stage, he was decisive in the knockout matches, notably stopping two shots on goal against Spain in the semi-final (4-2, 1-1 a) then three against England in the final (3-2, 1-1 a), Sunday.

The Italian goalkeeper met the Parisian staff on Wednesday, around Mauricio Pochettino, then his new teammates who won in the morning (4-0) against Le Mans (Nat.) After returning to training on Monday July the 5th. Within the capital club, he will compete with Costa Rican Keylor Navas. At the end of this first day in the capital, Donnarumma was logically authorized to go on vacation for a few days.
