Plane crashes in Truckee – NBC Sacramento

A twin-engine plane crash near a golf course in the Lake Tahoe area sparked a wildfire that was quickly contained before it threatened the northern California town of Truckee, authorities said Monday.

Authorities did not immediately say how many people were aboard the Bombardier CL 600, which the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said crashed at 1:18 p.m. Monday as the pilot tried to land at the airport. from Truckee-Tahoe.

The owner of the aircraft and his flight plan were not immediately made public.

The CL 600 is a multi-seat executive jet with two rear fuselage-mounted engines and a distinctive T-shaped tail.

The Truckee Fire Protection District and KTVN-TV in Reno tweeted that the accident occurred near the Ponderosa Golf Course in Truckee.

A statement from the FAA said the agency and the National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the accident.

It is unknown how many people were in the plane and if they were injured.
