Paris Saint Germain: Gianluigi Donnarumma da – eight goalkeepers in the squad – FOOTBALL INTERNATIONAL

The deal has been perfect since Wednesday: Gianluigi Donnarumma (22) moves from AC Milan to Paris Saint-Germain, receives a contract in the French capital until 2026. So far, so good.

The strange thing. PSG now has eight (!) Goalkeepers under contract.

The keepers who have a contract in addition to Donnarumma in Paris are: Alphonse Areola (28 / until 2023), Keylor Navas (34 / until 2024), Sergio Rico (27 (until 2024), Marcin Bulka (21 / until 2025), Alexandre Letellier (30 / until 2022), Garissone Innocent (21 / until 2023) and Denis Franchi (18 / until 2023).

What is Paris doing with eight goalkeepers?

One thing is clear: the 2020 Champions League finalist will hardly start the season with eight goalkeepers. According to L’Équipe, at least four should be handed in. That could be Areola, Rico, Bulka, and Innocent.

Navas, so far number 1 at PSG, must now fear ending up in the bank, even if ESPN reports that Donnarumam may not be able to get past Navas for the time being. The Costa Rican had fled Real in 2019 because Thibaut Courtois was put in front of his nose.

Letellier is expected to start as the Parisian number, the young Franchi is planned for the U19.

Areola was loaned to Premier League relegated Fulham last season and could end up in the motherland of football again. The Spaniard Rico, on the other hand, could land in his home country, he should have offers from Spanish first division clubs. However, he is only planned there as a replacement.

At 1.99 m, Bulka is three centimeters taller than Donnarumma, but still has no future in Paris. At Innocent, on loan to French second division club SM Caen last season, it’s similar. According to Footmercato, a loan to Neuchâtel Xamax FCS is possible. Also just a second division …
