4:46 p.m. Pacific Time – We’re told Hayes was convicted of assaulting a law enforcement officer – a felony. His bond was set at $ 25,000.
10:53 a.m. PT – The Pelicans have approached the arrest… saying they are aware of the incident and are working with representatives for Hayes and the NBA to get more information.
New Orleans Pelican Center Jaxson Hayes – the No.8 pick in the 2019 NBA Draft – was arrested after an alleged violent altercation with police, TMZ Sports learned… and it apparently got so extreme, the hoop and a cop were taken to the hospital.
We’re told law enforcement was called to a house in the LA area for domestic disturbances early Wednesday morning … and when cops attempted to verify the parties involved, Hayes, 21, tried as a heck to prevent them from entering the premises.
Sources tell us 6’11 ″, 220 pounds. Hayes got combative with the cops and a fight broke out… with the ex-Texas Longhorns star being teased in the middle of the fight.
The brawl was reportedly so intense that the police radioed “an officer needs help”.
Hayes was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment for minor injuries … and an officer involved in the brawl also requested treatment, though their condition is unknown.
Hayes should be convicted of assaulting a police officer. Cops are still investigating the original alleged domestic incident, but the two sides have not cooperated.
We contacted the Hayes representative. So far, no word in return.
