NBA, Los Angeles Lakers, Rumors: Having KCP and Kuzma

The Los Angeles Lakers are embroiled in numerous rumors outside the Free Agency. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Kyle Kuzma should be available, Dennis Schröder also remains a hot name.

Lakers: Well to have Kyle Kuzma and Caldwell-Pope

The Lakers gave up a lot of flexibility for Anthony Davis two years ago with the trade, now it’s difficult to improve the team. Two logical trade options remain Kyle Kuzma and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, who, according to Adrian Wojnarowski (ESPN) are available.

“They offered Kuzma and KCP to pretty much every team I talked to,” Wojnarowski explained in the Free Agency Special with Zach Lowe. Accordingly, the players were offered individually, but also in a package.

Caldwell-Pope will collect around $ 13 million in the coming season, but the following year is only guaranteed for $ 4.9 million. Kuzma signed an early three-year extension last December, earning him $ 13 million a year each.

Laut Shams Charania (The Athletic) there have already been talks with the Sacramento Kings, at least because of Kuzma. The Lakers’ goal is to be Buddy Hield, who in the past was often dissatisfied with the franchise and coach Luke Walton. The 27-year-old still has a three-year contract and will receive around 70 million during this period.

Lakers: Dennis Schröder has several options

Dennis Schröder, on the other hand, should be held, according to Wojnarowski, who confirmed once again that the German national player rejected an offer for 84 million and four years during the season. The 2020 champion wants to keep the guard, also because there are no better alternatives.

Wojnarowski, meanwhile, named the Chicago Bulls, New York Knicks, New Orleans Pelicans and the Dallas Mavericks as possible destinations for Schröder if the Lakers and the German do not agree on a further cooperation.

Should Schröder actually leave, Woj threw Ricky Rubio’s name into the ring. The Spaniard still has one year of contract in Minnesota and receives around 17.8 million for these twelve months.

Lakers want to trade down

The Lakers could also get help in the draft, where they hold the 22nd pick this year. According to Jonathan Givony (ESPN) the Californians are thinking about trading down in the draft. The 22nd pick would rake in around $ 2.4 million in its first year, so a trade could save some money.

At the same time, according to Givony, the density of combo guard between the 20s and the early 30s is so high that it would not be a disadvantage to trade downwards.
