Mountain biking, trail running, walking, archery… Full of nature sports in Belle-Isle-en-Terre

A beautiful getaway in the heart of nature awaits you in the forests of Belle-Isle-en-Terre.

With her station sport nature now well anchored in the territory, Belle-Isle-en-Terre, 20 km west of Guingamp, offers a very wide range of activities for lovers of outdoor activities.

Many marked circuits intersect at Belle-Isle-en-Terre, in this magnificent valley with three rivers, where the Guic and the Guer meet to form the Léguer, the only river in Brittany classified as a “wild river”.

The sports and nature resort offers mountain biking, orienteering races, an archery course, a treasure hunt, orienteering …

Bicycles are also available for hire to facilitate your outings. Mountain bikes and hybrid bikes, classic or with electric assistance. This is a great opportunity to try out “trendy” mountain biking (19 euros per half-day for an adult). If only to give it a try if you haven’t already.

Classic or electric mountain bike

These new electrically assisted mounts provide great sensations, giving a little more rhythm to your outings and allowing you, depending on the level, to push your usual rides a little further.

No worries, the driving sensations remain the same as on a Muscular mountain biking. Despite everything, the handling is not quite the same, but you get used to it very quickly. Do not think that the electric assistance does all the job, you will still have to put legs to move forward and arms to drive!

The Belle-Isle nature sport resort is freely accessible if you want to go on an adventure on your own, by bike or sneakers on foot. Several animators are also present to supervise workshops, especially archery, guide you or manage equipment rentals.

200 km of marked trails

More than 200 km of marked and very well maintained trails await practitioners in the nature sports resort. There is something for all tastes and all levels. From the 13 km circuit, to do with the family, from Belle-Isle to the pretty little village of Loc-Envel.

Up to the largest loop of more than 70 km which will take you to the peaks of the sector, the Shiner Bré and the Less Hoguene, at an altitude of over 300 meters. Good legs, or a good back-up engine, will be necessary to face this beautiful sporting escapade.

With the friendly Clément, animator at the nature sports resort, we discovered a very nice circuit that goes from Belle-Isle to Louargat. It is not the most used by practitioners and yet it is really worth the detour, with nice technical sections on the outward journey and a more rolling course on the return. On the course, we pass near a huge menhir. The standing stone of Pergat, with its 7.60 m high, is one of the highest standing stones in Europe.

Fancy a cooler ride, but also super rich for its heritage: the VTC loop (electric assistance bikes also available for hire), 16 km to discover the Castel Mond castle, the Sainte-Jeune chapel, the church of Loc-Envel, the castle of Coat-Noz, the old Vallée paper mills. Lovers of outdoor sports, a detour is essential this summer in Belle-Isle-en-Terre!
