Minjee Lee wins the Amundi Evian Championship

However, the trophy seemed to be reaching out to Jeongeun Lee6 at the dawn of this last round. With her 5 hits and only 3 bogeys taken so far, the Korean showed no sign of weakness. But despite a birdie from its first hole, the machine got stuck and it took 5 bogeys to close a +4 go and see its competitors catch up.

Among them, Minjee Lee who with a clear game was quickly at the forefront. A final birdie at 18 for a card of 64 and the Australian found herself the only leader at the clubhouse. Two players could then join her thanks to a birdie on their last hole, Yealimi Noh and Jeongeun Lee6. Missed for the first, returned for the second. Direction play-off, the second in the history of the tournament.

After 2 perfect face-offs, Lee lands a monumental blow 6 at 2 meters from the mast on this par 5 and leaves the pressure to Lee6. Pressure that takes effect as the Korean scratches her attack on the green and ends up in the water. Minjee Lee then only has to push his ball down the hole to afford the very first Major of his career at 25 years old.

Entering a record card of 61 on Friday Jeongeun Lee6 equaled Hyo-joo Kim’s record for the lowest round ever played in Major for men and women combined. A record that they are now three to hold since Léona Maguire ended her week in apotheosis. With 10 birdies for no bogey, the Irishwoman in turn goes down in history and at the same time secures a phenomenal good in the standings. 32nd at -3 Thursday evening, she finished in 6th place.

Céline Boutier best Frenchwoman

Céline Boutier finished best French in this Amundi Evian Championship. With a last lap in -1, she brought her mark to -5 and finished in 29th place in the standings. French representative at the Olympic Games alongside Perrine Delacour, she will fly in the coming days to Tokyo where Antoine Rozner and Romain Langasque are already waiting for her. ” I can not wait to be there. Not too tired at the moment but I’m happy to have a few days to recover before leaving. After that there will be the Solheim Cup and I hope to win before the end of the year ”.

In a game controlled from start to finish, Pauline Roussin-Bouchard ended her week in the best possible way with a card of 68. Thanks to the face-offs found, the Frenchwoman did not concede a single bogey today and has grabbed 14 places in the general classification, finishing at -3. A good omen for a few weeks of big deadlines.

Better French after two laps, Céline Herbin had some difficulties to finish her week. “I didn’t have too much energy today. It was my 5th week in a row with a lot of traveling and I felt that today there was no more energy. So I did my best but when you have more concentration it is difficult to manage the holes that are a bit complicated ”. With a last card of 74 she finished 68th at +4.

An equally difficult weekend for the youngest Frenchwoman present this week. After her 82 yesterday, Lucie Malchirand returned a card of 87 for her last turn. A result which propels her to 76th place but which does not make her forget the positive points of her very first Evian Championship. “I haven’t really digested my last 2 laps yet, but I think there is a lot of positive and lots of experience gained. So that’s what you have to remember ”.
