Milan Škoda about his brother-in-law, Boleslav and the hot-blooded Turks. They fought three times during training, he describes

You and Michal missed each other. Are you tired of not playing together?

It would definitely attract me. But if my brother continued in Boleslav, I would not come here. I have the motivation to play and it would be difficult for him. Michal was in the lauf, so I probably wouldn’t come here. We’ll see if we can do it somewhere in the future.

Did you discuss the Boleslav offer with him a lot?

We’ve done enough. Even at the time when I had no idea that I could go to Boleslav, I felt disappointed that my brother was leaving her. There is a great coach here, Jarolím, he got caught under him. He played, scored goals, was used to the environment. I believed that he would continue the established performances and shoot the goals further. But they simply did not agree, so he had to leave and I hope that he will be just as successful in České Budějovice.

Michal set a high standard for you with ten league hits last season. Nothing easy awaits you …

It will be really difficult to follow it. He performed great. My brother and I wish each other a lot, but at the same time we are quite competitive with each other, so I would like to beat his portion of goals. (smile)

With 113 hits, you have a number of big names in sight in the League Gunners Club. For example, you lose 13 goals on Ladislav Vízek. Is the great attraction of the legend to overtake?

I find it incredible who I overcame. Some Škoda simply jumped in the table, for example, Ivan Hašek, Stand Vlček and others. This is great! Of course, I have a great motivation to continue scoring goals and I believe that I will add some more.

At the same time, it seemed that you would continue to bet them abroad …

Due to my Slavic past, I could not imagine that I would be in another club in the Czech Republic. I thought that abroad is the only choice for next season. However, I returned from Riga, he was at home for about three weeks and suddenly I didn’t want to go abroad at all. I had three offers from Turkey, one right on the table to sign from Cyprus. But I was supposed to go there in two days. And I thought, I can’t leave. I do not want! I wasn’t set up like that in my head. At that moment, I came to the conclusion that the best one would simply play in the Czech Republic.

Did you nod to Mladá Boleslav, what decided for her?

Because of my brother, I watched Boleslav a lot last season and the team that is being formed here had a really good time on me. Ambitiously. In addition, Boleslav is close to Prague, so I don’t have to move anywhere. Old and young players are great in the staff. Experienced Jirka Skalák, Mára Matějovský, Suchoš (Suchý), which attracted me. I’m surprised at young people. If I take myself, where I was at the age of 17 or 18, and now I see teenagers Mašek or Fila, who are really very good footballers. And like I said, there’s a great coach here, which is the basis.

Did cooperation with Karel Jarolím attract you?

I met him at the national team and he already looked very good on me there. He can put together a staff, prepare him and bring success. We haven’t discussed my role in detail yet. There are other attackers and a lot of competition. Goals and team help are expected from me. I will try not to disappoint.

Are you a matador, are you also looking forward to the role of a mentor?

It’s more about psychological support, when the boys fail to do something to encourage them and not be afraid to play. But I will definitely try to help them and pass on the experience I have gained.

The team fought for rescue last year. Where do you want to point it?

It’s not easy to start a league at all and it will tell you a lot how successful we can be. But the season must definitely be better! I believe that we will play nice football and entertain the fans. Mainly to win as much as possible and play well. We will see where it takes us …

You mentioned the daily commute from Prague, which doesn’t bother you much …

I live on the other side of Prague, so my journey along the South Junction is a bit longer, but I think it can be reached in peace. When I was in Šeberov, I drove to Slavia for about forty minutes, because it was everywhere. I have the same time for Boleslav now.

How will it feel for you to play with Boleslav in the league against Slavia, with which you have a strong relationship?

It will be difficult, I try not to think about it. I have promised that I could work in a position in Slavia after a career, but not at all now. I feel good and I still want to play.

You had a good year and a half in Rizespor. Did the Turkish league fit you?

Yes. At the beginning I had goals and I thought it was quite easy here, but it was not easy at all. When I arrived in Riga, I was well prepared physically and I felt really good. It occurred to me that I was physically superior to the other boys. But over time, when you train with them, it compares. Scoring goals has been much harder for me.

You bet a total of nineteen. You have also asserted yourself against the biggest giants, which certainly warms your heart …

It was good that I scored Besiktasi, Fenerbahce and Galatasaray. And Trabzon in the final, which is nice. I like to remember that. (smile)

Did you recognize the famous Turkish hot blood on the field?

I experienced it. They even fought at least three times during training (laughs). Because of nonsense. One boy was not in a good mood, for example, someone told him something and they were already hanging on. They’re yelling at each other … They’re really hot-blooded.

So now you were looking forward to the Czech cabin and jokes again?

It also played a big role for me. When they succeed, everything is good. But if not, I need to talk about it. Tell us what we did wrong, talk to that player. We went to dinner in the Czech Republic and it was discussed there. But no one went to one in Turkey, after the match everyone scatters and gets home. So I suffocated and couldn’t talk about it. I had no one to deal with, which bothered me terribly. The Czech cabin is completely different in this.

What was the biggest experience for you during the engagement?

Fans. Soon after I came to Rizespor, we played the cup at Galatasaraya. At that time, spectators could still go to the galleries, and then perhaps fifty thousand of them came. Great! People are fanatics there, they go to matches a lot and the stadiums are really beautiful.

How did you cope with the local climate and higher temperatures during the matches?

It wasn’t extra hot in Riga, it often rains and it’s different from the climate point of view than in Antalya or Denizli, for example, where it’s been disgusting since March. It bothers me a lot of heat, I don’t like it, but there were few matches we played in it. Occasional matches from 1 pm, however, were unpleasant. In the summer, when the heat was greatest, we had time off.

Did you penetrate a little into Turkish?

No, I didn’t even want to. I focused more on English, which I didn’t really know. But it was not easy in Turkey either. When I wanted to eavesdrop on something, I almost didn’t stand a chance. I came to a group where they were talking in Turkish. I arrived at the second, where they spoke Russian again, at the third then Spanish … (smile). But I learned something.

Through the eyes of brother Michal
“Milan and I talked about Boleslav. When Mr. Jarolim called him, he told me that there was a possibility that he would go there. He asked me how it works in the club and I could only recommend it to him. He goes to a good club and can be at home with his family. Of course, it would be very nice if we played together. But if I stayed, maybe Milan wouldn’t even come. I enjoy mutual matches and in November I will be looking forward to it with České Budějovice. The last time we played against each other was two years ago, when I was still working in Příbram and he was in Slavia. We both started as captains then, about 16,000 spectators came to Eden, it was absolutely great. I don’t know if our family is experiencing this struggle in any extra way, but they are definitely looking forward to it and cheering for both of them. I watched my brother in Turkey and gave great performances. Spicy was that he was originally supposed to go to another club (Genclerbirligi), but in the end he wanted to give him a shorter contract. In the first match for Rizespor, paradoxically, he started against him and scored two goals, which was fantastic. Unfortunately, the coronavirus pandemic began, so I couldn’t come see it. But there’s nothing you can do about it. “
