Arrived as Steve Nash’s assistant in Brooklyn last October, Mike D’Antoni is not going to last forever.
ESPN announces that the former coach of the Suns, Knicks, Lakers and Rockets intends to become “head coach” again, and he will therefore leave his full-time position with the Nets.
Among the very serious contenders for the Terry Stotts succession in Portland, before Chauncey Billups was preferred to him, Mike D’Antoni should not have a job at the opening of the next campaign, unless a last minute dismissal . But, at 70, he will be ready in the event of dismissal during the season.
Brooklyn Nets assistant Mike D’Antoni is stepping away from a full-time coaching role on Steve Nash’s staff, sources tell ESPN. D’Antoni is expected to pursue head coaching jobs again in the future. He was a finalist for the Portland opening this year.
