The young woman specified that “the classification was difficult, because judo was one of the sports that waited until the last to close. Just a month ago it was ratified and the option was safe in the end ”.

“Classify the JJ.OO. maybe it wasn’t my main goal, but it was achieved and history was made… Now that everything is difficult, judo helps me find the good side of things ”.

“I work hard in sports and in my studies, and being a reference makes me happy, even if one does not seek to be an example for others. In addition, behind there are many people who help with their commitment ”.

Mary Dee Vargas added that “for more than a month we have been filling out documents to travel to Tokyo, due to the sanitary safeguards.”

“These will be a JJ.OO. very special. We will arrive in Japan no more than five days before the start, I compete on the first day and I must return to Chile immediately. My participation will be very brief, but representing my country on an Olympic mat will be a great opportunity ”.

For Mary Dee Vargas, the medal she won two years ago in Lima marked a change in her sports career.
