Marta Xargay announces retirement

Marta Xargay says goodbye to basketball for good. The Girona player has announced this on Instagram late her retirement from the sport at the age of 30 and with a record of the most full of merits both in clubs (Euroleague and Leagues with Perfumeries) and with the Spanish team (seven medals in big competitions). Xargay explains that he makes, in a “positive and rewarding” way, the decision to fold. A year ago, the Girona native decided to break away from Uni Girona and temporarily retire from the courts. A year later, the withdrawal is already final.

A Euroleague, two leagues and five Cups with Perfumerías, a Czech League with Prague are some of the club titles that Xargay has won, which began to emerge in the Uni, where he also finished officially. With the selection, the record goes even further: Three golds at the European Championships in 2013, 2017 and 2019, a bronze at the European Championships in 2015, a silver at the 2014 World Cup, a bronze at the 2018 World Cup and a silver at the Games Rio de Janeiro of 2016.
