Rohan, who is competing in the Olympics for the first time, really secured his progress in the first round of qualifying, in which he set the ninth time with two penalty seconds. 15 out of 18 starters advanced to the next phase of the race. Like other canoeists, however, this year’s winner of the Prague World Cup race had to enter the second round and improved his time by more than a second. Even in the second run, however, he did not avoid a penalty for touching the goal.

The 31-year-old Czech, who was tenth in Rio five years ago, then also accelerated in the second round, yet fell in the standings. The race also ended for three kayakers, but there were 27 of them at the start.
