Judokas ready to get on the Tatami in Tokyo

Tokyo, Japan.- The three judokas classified by our country to the Olympic Games are ready to compete and although the greatest options for medals are the Artemiseña Idalys Ortiz in (+78 Kg), both Maylin del Toro (63 Kg) and Kaliema Antomarchi (78 Kg), will try to advance as much as possible in the contest.

Regarding the participation of the Judo girls in this difficult event, the head coach Yordanis Arencibia pointed out that his students will arrive in better shape than at the Budapest World Championship, held at the beginning of June.

“We have trained a lot, the girls are physically and mentally well and what we have left is to compete. Maylin will do it on the 27th, Kaliema on the 29th and Idalys on the 30th ”.

Arencibia believes that Idalys Ortiz is in a position to get her fourth Olympic medal. “She is psychologically very strong and has prepared well. We are aware of what we want a medal to be as it has always done and I don’t think this time will be the exception ”.

Regarding the participation in the most recent World Cup, where Idalys finished 5th, the Head of the Technical Group commented that the objective for the stage they were in was met.

“Taking into account that we only had 3 weeks of training, we presented some other tactical inaccuracies and it was difficult for us to advance a little more. I am satisfied with what he achieved by the time we were in preparation. This does not mean that we do not go out to look for medals, because we always aspire to the maximum, but those were the circumstances ”.

Arencibia said that while Idalys has the best chance of being on the podium, the other two don’t give up on that dream. “The three of them are going to go out to win the greatest number of fights, the fundamental thing is to go step by step and that there is no despair. Cubans always train to look for a medal because it is in our temperament ”.
