Korean coaches from China and Japan who competed in women’s doubles badminton at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics are attracting attention.
From January 2017 to November 2018, coach Kang Kyung-jin, who was in charge of coaching China’s Cheonqingcheon-Zaipan, who defeated Korea’s Kim So-young (29, Incheon International Airport) and Gong Hee-yong (25, Jeonbuk Bank) to the final He was the national team manager.
Coach Kang, who failed to renew his contract with the responsibility of ‘failure to change generations’, was recruited as a coach for the Chinese national team in September 2019. There is an analysis that China strategically stouted coach Kang to target Korea’s strong women’s doubles. Coach Kang is the first foreign coach of the Chinese badminton team.
Under coach Kang’s guidance, Jeon Ching-cheon and Zaipan became the natural enemies of Kim So-young and Gong Hee-yong. In the group stage of this tournament, Kim So-young and Gong Hee-young were defeated. In the semifinals, the two teams met again, but Kim So-young and Gong Hee-yong failed to swear. Including defeat in this tournament, Kim So-young and Gong Hee-young were defeated by Cheon Qing-cheon and Zaipan with 3 wins and 7 losses.
Japan’s Mayu Matsumoto and Wakana Nagahara of Japan, who are ranked second in the world, where Kim So-young and Gong Hee-young defeated by a come-back victory in the quarterfinals, are also being coached by Korean coach Park Joo-bong.
