How Prince George proved during the European Championship that William is his ‘role model’ | showbiz

RoyaltyPrince William (39) was, as expected, present with his wife Kate Middleton (39) and their son Prince George (7) at the final of the European Football Championship. Photos show that the trio enthusiastically encourage the English team, which had to compete against Italy. According to some British parenting experts, it was particularly striking how Prince George regarded his father as a ‘role model’.

According to Georgina Durrant, author of the book “100 Ways Your Child Can Learn Through Play,” the way the young Prince George “mirrored” his father William during the event speaks volumes. “During the England final, we saw both parents dealing tactfully with Prince George – giving him hugs when he needed them and placing their hands reassuringly on his shoulders – reflecting a family life full of love and affection, which is hugely important for a healthy childhood,” she says.

“It was wonderful to see Prince George’s love for his parents as he mirrored his father, clapped his hands and cheered when England scored,” the author continues. “Then he ran to his mother’s open arms for a hug. When children mirror their parents’ actions, it is often because they love them so much, think very much of them, or see them as their role models.”

‘Full of mischief’

Expert Duncan Larcombe also noticed this close relationship between parents and son. “Prince George is not a Lord, but a little villain of (almost) eight years old, full of mischief and all the time playing pranks on his younger sister and brother,” he laughs. “Hopefully George can enjoy all the perks of royal life without the bizarre impact of growing up in a ‘fishbowl’. They will later have to explain to him the extraordinary circumstances in which he was born, and hope that after that he does not go completely insane, as has happened to some members of his family.”

After England’s first goal, George immediately jumped to his feet and, like his parents, clapped for Luke Shaw who scored the first point. It was not the first European Championship match for the 7-year-old prince, although this time he went home with the biggest disappointment, as England lost the final. William has already attended many European Championship matches and is even president of the FA, the English Football Association.
