Hamilton precedes Verstappen, excellent feedback from Ferrari – OA Sport

Lewis Hamilton wins the best time at the end of free practice 3 of the Hungarian Grand Prix, eleventh round of the 2021 F1 World Championship. The Mercedes driver signs the best lap of the morning with the chrono of 1.16.826.

L’olandese Max Verstappen (Red Bull) chases the seven-time world champion with 88 thousandths of a delay. Third place for the Finnish Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes) which could fit into the fight for pole position between the two protagonists of this championship.

Excellent performance by the Ferrari which are currently the third force on the line. Fourth time trial for the Spaniard Carlos Sainz ahead of the Monegasque Charles Leclerc. The British Lando Norris (McLaren) chases the two Reds who mock this morning too Red Bull of the Mexican Sergio Perez, seventh with over a second from Hamilton’s best lap.

Mercedes and Red Bull carried out two qualifying simulations, while the Red opted for a different program. Leclerc and Sainz only gave everything in the second half of the session showing very competitive on a track where the position on the starting grid is crucial. A lot of work for Lewis Hamilton and also in FP3 he decided to hit the track with a lot of fuel, a job that the Stuttgart company has already carried out in Silverstone (Great Britain).

Eighth performance for the Australian Daniel Ricciardo (McLaren) ahead of the Spanish Fernando Alonso (Alpine) and the Canadian Lance Stroll (Aston Martin). The two AlphaTauri who struggled yesterday in the morning remain out of the Top 10.

Activity has been focused for a lot of training in the past 30 minutes. The rain, which arrived in the night and in the morning, made the Hungarian circuit difficult, one of the shortest in the entire calendar. The teams had to prepare the ‘fast lap’ with few references given a different track condition.

Mick Schumacher’s mistake at the exit of turn 12 is worth noting. The pilot of the Haas he lost control in one of the most insidious folds of the Hungarian plant by hitting the protective barriers and triggering the first and only red flag of the turn. Hard work for the mechanics of Gené Haas’s training that they might have problems to prepare the car in time for Q1.

Error in the pit lane by Alfa Romeo. The team allowed Antonio di Giovinazzi to get out of his garage while the Canadian was passing Lance Stroll (Aston Martin). The two cars touched each other and the Apulian could remedy a penalty for unsafe release.

Appointment at 15.00 for the qualifying that will determine the starting grid of the Hungarian Grand Prix 2021.
