This is what a government official familiar with the talks said on Wednesday.
A spokesperson for the team said the Jays continued to work with Ottawa to play at Rogers Center starting July 30, and expected to receive a response by Friday.
But the source familiar with the matter said the Blue Jays won’t know if they can play in Toronto by the weekend.
The official spoke on condition of anonymity as no one has been allowed to discuss the talks publicly.
MLB will require an exemption for vaccinated and unvaccinated players and team personnel, for games in Canada.
Toronto most recently played at Rogers Center in September 2019, since playing in Dunedin, Fla. And then Buffalo.
The team said unvaccinated and partially vaccinated Jays and visitors will undergo modified isolation upon arrival in Canada.
