Golf: the No. 1 and No. 6 worldwide positive for Covid and packages!

World No. 1 Spanish golfer Jon Rahm has been forced to forfeit the Tokyo Olympics due to a positive Covid-19 test, the Spanish National Olympic Committee announced on Sunday.

“The positive result appeared after having undergone a third consecutive PCR test, compulsory for all those who have recently stayed in the United Kingdom, as is the case of Jon Rahm, who has just played The Open,” said the federation Spanish golf course, which indicates that the first two tests were negative.

Rahm’s forfeit, one of the main medal chances for Spain, comes a few hours after that of the American Bryson DeChambeau, also tested positive for the coronavirus. Spain will only be represented by Adri Arnaus in the men’s golf event, which kicks off this Thursday, July 29. Thomas Detry and Thomas Pieters will be the Belgian representatives.
