Galatasaray not to third qualifying round Champions League despite…

After the return matches of the second preliminary round on Wednesday in the Champions League, PSV, Midtjylland and Olympiakos have qualified for the third preliminary round. Young Boys, Red Star and Sparta Prague also pushed through.

Olympiakos won 0-1 against Neftci Baku and thus qualified for the third preliminary round where the PFK will meet Ludogerets. The Bulgarian team won 3-1 against Mura. PSV was never in danger after the 5-1 victory in the first round. Yorbe Vertessen’s team, who was on the bench for the entire game, won 1-2 in the return of Galatasaray and advanced to the third preliminary round. Mbaye Diagne (ex-Club Brugge) scored for the Turkish home team, who made the switch from West Brom this summer.

Boli Bolingoli’s Celtic drew 1-1 at home against the Danish Midtjylland. In Denmark, the home team forced extra time, and took the win: 2-1. Bolingoli was on the bench for the entire game. Celtic have been knocked out in the preliminary rounds of the Champions League for the fourth year in a row.

BSC Young Boys beat Slovan Bratislava 3-2 at home after playing 0-0 in Slovakia. The Swiss will meet CFR Cluj in the third heat.

Red Star Belgrade had something to make up for after losing 2-1 to Almaty in Kazakhstan. It won convincingly 5-0 at home and will face Tiraspol in the third preliminary round. Rapid Vienna lost 2-0 to Sparta Prague after winning 2-1 at home. Sparta Prague pushes through and looks AS Monaco in the eye.

KRC Genk also comes into action in the third heat. It plays at home against the Ukrainian Shakhtar Donetsk on Tuesday 03/08.
