“Today we are pleased to confirm that Riga will be represented twice in the calendar of the 2021 World Rally Cross Championship. The organizers of the Latvian stage held a successful double stage last year, so we have no doubt that this year the team of competition organizers will cope with this task. For fans, this means an even more eventful ride on the Biķernieki track, where exciting competitions have always taken place since the first stage in 2016. We expect an equally intriguing sequel from the September double stage as well, ”Executive Director of the FIA World Rallycross Championship Rallycross Promoter Arne Dirks.

“This is a unique news for all rallycross fans,” starts the director of RA Events Raimonds Strokšs. “For two days, visitors to our competition from Latvia and abroad will have the opportunity to follow twice as many races and twice as many decisive final races, the turn of events of which is almost impossible to predict. Such changes will take place in the season of 2021, when the world rallycross championship title can be won for the last time by driving a car with an internal combustion engine under the hood. It can be said that this year, spectators are given a unique opportunity to once again enjoy this super-powerful car on the battle track before the big changes planned for next year and the electrification of rallycross.

“Organizing a double stage imposes a much greater responsibility on the organizer of the competition – an increased number of trips also means an increasing list of responsibilities on the days of the competition. But I believe that we and our partners, as well as the responsible services are ready to maintain the high quality of the Latvian section even in such circumstances, ”concludes Raimonds Strokšs.
