Feyenoord beats Werder Bremen in exhibition game | Football

With the brand new Feyenoord acquisition Alireza Jahanbakhsh in the stands, Arne Slot’s team completed its last exhibition game before the real work starts. The preliminary round of the Conference League against FC Drita will follow on Thursday. Between the double encounter with the Kosovar club, an extra practice match against PAOK is still waiting.

It was early on for the Rotterdammers. Marcos Senesi gave in and Jens Toornstra was attentive enough to shoot the opening goal half falling. Bryan Linssen thought after twenty minutes that he would score 2-0 in a brilliant way, but his attempt with the outside right landed on the crossbar.

A few minutes later, Josh Sargent hit the other side after slipping away from Leroy Fer. But Feyenoord also had the best opportunities through, among other things, the same Fer, only his header was cleverly turned.

Sinisterra injury

After an hour of play, the lead came for Feyenoord. Tyrell Malacia was put down and the new number ten of the Rotterdammers Orkun Köckü used the opportunity flawlessly. Feyenoord’s victory was no longer in danger. Justin Bijlow had to stretch again in the last minute, but the action had already been flagged for offside. Less good news was the failure of Luis Sinisterra in the final phase of the game.

Earlier in the day, the reserves of both teams had already played against each other. That game ended 3-3. Naoufal Bannis scored the first two goals and secured a double lead. After Werder Bremen completely turned the game around, Noah Naujoks signed for the final score ten minutes before time.

AZ loses to Leipzig

AZ lost a match for the first time in this practice campaign. The team of trainer Pascal Jansen lost on Saturday against RB Leipzig, the number 2 in the German league of last season: 1-0.

Lazar Samardzic scored in the 51st minute. Thijs Oosting was not positioned well and then let Samardzic shoot free. AZ, which lost Calvin Stengs to OGC Nice this week, was unable to make up for that deficit. Jansen made a lot of changes in the second half.

AZ previously won against NEC (4-1) and TOP Oss (3-0) and drew 1-1 against both Anderlecht and Racing Genk.

RB Leipzig will be Ajax’s opponent in two weeks, also in a practice match.
