Colts: the jackpot for right tackle Braden Smith

The year 2021 is already a success for Braden Smith. According to NFL Media, the Colts right tackle just signed a 4-year, $ 72.4 million contract extension.

Importantly, the deal includes a guaranteed amount of $ 42 million.

The contract extension signed on Tuesday will begin in 2022. In 2021, Smith will complete his rookie contract, with a salary of $ 2.4 million.

Selected in the second round in 2018, the same year as Quenton Nelson, Smith made much less noise in the media than his teammate. But on the pitch, he quickly proved to be a solid holder on the right end of the line. Out of the 45 games he has played since joining the league, he has started 43 times.

Smith also has the distinction of having followed the opposite path of many NCAA players. Guard at the university, it passed on a post of tackle with the pros. A nice tour de force as there are many examples of players who have followed the opposite path.
