Washington Football Team’s defensive end, Chase Young, was named Defensive Rookie of the Year for the 2020 season at the NFL Honors on Saturday.

Young enjoyed a productive rookie season after Washington drafted him as the second player last April. He led all players in the first year with 7.5 sacks, four forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries.

He prevailed against Jeremy Chinn of the Carolina Panthers and Antoine Winfield Jr. of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The former Ohio State star showed his dominance as a pass rusher and in run defense. According to the PFF, he led all rookie defensive linemen.

Young played a key role in a Washington defense that ranked second in yards allowed per game and fourth in points lost in 2020.

The 21-year-old was appointed to the PFWA All-Rookie Team and received a Pro Bowl nomination for his achievements.
