British Omnium: Bryson DeChambeau complains about his # 1 wood for tee shots

Bryson DeChambeau had a first round in the roller coaster at the British Omnium as he presented a score of plus-1.

If he is seven strokes behind the leader after the first day, Louis Oosthuizen, it is partly because of his lack of precision on his starting shots. The powerful slugger only hit four of 14 fairways, often finding himself in a recovery situation.

When asked if it was possible for him to hope for victory if he ended up more in the fairway for his second shot, DeChambeau sharply criticized his No.1 wood.

“If I can send him down the center of the fairway that’s good, but with my driver right now he’s bad. It’s not a good face for me and we’re still trying to see how he could do with a few misses. “

DeChambeau uses a Cobra Rapspeed brand wood and his words have come to the ears of Cobra Tour operations manager on the circuit, Ben Schomin. “It’s really painful to hear something so stupid,” he told Dave Dusek of Golfweek.

“He was never really happy, I would say that it is very rare that he is,” he added.
