According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident occurred shortly after 1:15 pm, the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office said that two streets were closed because of the accident.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said in a statement that a jet Bombardier CL 600 it had crashed while the pilot was attempting to land at Truckee Tahoe Airport (TKF). Nevada County Sheriff Shannan Moon reported that there are no survivors but authorities were not ready to reveal the number of occupants, but hours later it was confirmed that three people were killed on board.

“We hope to see you soon” was what the pilot told controllers after receiving instructions to report runway in sight, which is a usual request for a visual approach or VFR. The pilot reported runway in sight two minutes later. The flight received authorization to land on runway 11, which, due to a noise abatement procedure, requires a return to the “basic” leg of the approach and landing pattern. Two minutes later a call was received from another plane in the area indicating that there were problems with the jet during landing maneuvers.

Flight records indicate that the plane departed from Coeur d ‘Alene in Idaho and later to Truckee, it would continue to Thermal in Riverside County and later to Van Nuys Airport in Los Angeles.
