Baseball at Tokyo Olympics 2020: groups, games, schedule, format and results

After exiting the London 2012 and Rio 2016 editions, baseball returned to the Olympic program for Tokyo 2020. After 12 years of absence This is how the “Beautiful Sport” tournament becomes a summer tournament.

Groups and format of the baseball tournament in the Olympics

For this edition, the six qualified nations will be divided into two sectors of three members each. in the Group A they find each other Japan, Mexico and the Dominican Republic; by doing B group are located South Korea, the US and Israel.

The competition format consists of six phases, the first will be a round in which the teams of the groups face each other (two parties). At the end of the phase, the club scores are reviewed to determine their future for the knockout games.

The second phase meets the clubs as follows: runner-up in group A vs. runner-up in group B. (Game eight) and third of group A vs. third of group B (Game seven).

The third phase will be a duel between the first in group A vs. first in group B. (Sentence 10); the winner goes to the semifinals (Sentence 13). Likewise the winners of the Game seven and eight are measured (game nine), to qualify for the semi-finals (Game 13).

Im fourth phase, called by one the glimmer of hope that Losers from games seven and eight are measured (game 11), the loser goes home and the winner is installed in round two of the Battle of Hope.

The fifth phase (Round two of hopelessness) will be in between the winner of game 11 and the loser of game 10 (game 12). The winner can be found in the second semifinalsthat are contested between the squad Winner of game 12 and defeated in game 13.

The last phase is the medal duels. The losers of the semi-finals go for bronze, while the winners of the keys fight for gold and silver.
