When you think of the name Baldwin last season at the BBL, the name Wade Baldwin comes to mind. Now the BG Göttingen has also signed Baldwin, but – no – it is not the top man from FC Bayern Munich who has recently moved to Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz (ACB, Spain). The BG could not have paid for the previous Munich resident.
Göttingen – Rather, the Veilchen have signed Kamar Baldwin, increasing the roster to ten players. US guard Kamar Baldwin moves from the Turkish first division club Türk Telekom to Göttingen and receives a one-year contract. “In Kamar we bring creativity and scoring into the team,” says BG head coach Roel Moors. “He also has the defensive mentality that I would like for the team.”
After graduating from college in 2020, Baldwin signed his first professional contract last summer. For Türk Telekom, the newcomer made 17 appearances in the Turkish league and nine times in the Basketball Champions League. In the national competition, the guard scored 6.4 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.6 assists in around 20 minutes of play per game. On the European stage, the basketball player averaged 6.1 points, got 2.6 rebounds and gave 0.8 assists in around 17 minutes of playing time per game.
During his academic training at Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana, Baldwin wore the Butler Bulldogs jersey from 2016 to 2020. For the college team, the American completed 133 games over the four seasons. In his senior year he stood on the floor an average of 32 minutes per game, scored 16.2 points, got 4.6 rebounds and gave 3.3 assists.
