After being 12 days and 21 hours responsible for the daily recovery of the Italian cyclist, Dorina Vacaroni, an independent runner within the Race Acros América (RAAM), the Guanajuato physiotherapist originally from Salamanca, Alejandro Mojarro Tenorio, said he was proud of the trust placed in him to be part of the multidisciplinary team that accompanied the high performance athlete in one of the toughest endurance events on the planet.

In this regard, he comments, “I am a person who loves sports and the maximum aspiration I believe of a physiotherapist at the sports level is to represent perhaps a national team or even an athlete in international events, fortunately he has already done it with Fabián Alcantar and other athletes who they have also participated abroad, in national teams of Hockey, Badminton, Volleyball, Basketball, Dow Hill and now a foreign athlete ”.

To this he added, “it is a pride that foreign athletes trust in our work, it is a dream that comes true and well it is something beautiful, that they trust you, in my case a group of French, Italians and Americans, has given the breadth , the last days were given according to what was dictating the health of the participant and physical conditions in which she was, an excellent synergy was made thanks to the humility of all, it has been a unique thing to work with a multidisciplinary and international team that was formed for a single objective, to finish the race ”.

Regarding how the opportunity to be taken into account by the Italian cyclist arises, she comments, “Thank God there are more and more patients and people who recognize our work, in this case high-performance athletes who trust us, among Down cyclists. Hill, Pista and even footballers are having communication and they recommend us; On this occasion, René Laguna’s son -Bary-, participates in motocross, is a national and Pan-American champion, he is part of a team of an Italian brand, a recommendation was requested for this athlete and things were given, they requested my resume and I was chosen among several from different countries; the cyclist identifies a lot with Mexicans, she likes that fraternity that characterizes the Mexican a lot, she has a great multidisciplinary team made up of engineers, mechanics, nutritionists, production team and she needed support in her daily recovery ”.

Regarding the function performed throughout the twelve days that the competition lasted, he shared, “Every day we had to finish a season, I was in charge of preparing the athlete for the warm-up, checking if she had any muscle, tendon or injury. articular, if she presented fatigue, she worked with her through stretching, joint mobilizations, electrotherapy massage, application of ice, heat, compresses, dry function, cupping, taking analgesics; finishing that and depending on the weather I selected the best clothes and applied creams and lubricants to avoid chafing, yagas and we did the knee bandage, back, a little yoga, relaxation especially for the diaphragmatic and intercostal muscles and the tour began; During the race he was driving along with the whole team on the lookout for any mishap he might have. When the journey ended 60 to 80 miles per stage and 250 to 300 miles per day, we arrived at the hotel or camper room, where she was checked in aspects such as oxygen pressure, hydration and even intravenous line and her recovery, Basically, it was in the best conditions as a race that exceeds all limits, rather than an optimal physical state, it is a mental state of whether I can complete this task; So I also took care of the nutrition of the cyclist with multivitamins and consumption of necessary calories, for the latter I supported from Mexico with my brother, a specialist in high performance athletes, we worked together, since the nutritionist who was in charge, could not finish the job, this time he had to retire (zic) ”.

The Italian cyclist, Dorina Vacaroni, competed in the 50-59 year-old female branch of only 3,000 miles in a maximum of 12 days 21 hours, effectively ending her participation, although shortly after the cut-off time.

The taste for his profession as a physiotherapist arises in Alejandro Mojarro thanks to his father “since I can remember, people went to him or he went to people to give physical rehabilitation, I did not know what he was doing, all based on exercises, I saw how little by little people in walking or wheelchairs were recovering in their physical condition ”.
