Toma Nikiforov qualified for the 2nd round in the -100 kg judo category on Thursday at the Tokyo Olympic Games. Belgian judoka, 16th in the world; defeated Brazilian Rafael Buzacarini (IJF 17) on waza-ari in his first fight at Nippon Budokan. It’s a big chunk that awaits Nikiforov now as the Brussels player, European champion, will meet in the second round the Portuguese Jorge Fonseca , 2nd world and double world champion. Toma Nikiforov, 28, is attending the Games for the second time. It was released in the 3rd round in 2016 in Rio. (Belga)
