Olivier Echouafni, coach of the Paris Saint Germain women’s team, champion of France, is leaving the club in the capital after three seasons, PSG announced on Thursday in a statement. Arrived in 2018 at PSG, the 48-year-old former midfielder was at the end of his contract on June 30.
“Paris-Saint-Germain would like to warmly thank Olivier for this magnificent page of the Women’s Section and wish him the best for the rest of his coaching career”, can we read in the press release.

Renewal among the champions of France
Echouafni has made 92 matches on the Paris bench including a Coupe de France final and two Champions League semi-finals and with him, PSG won on June 4 a historic title of French champions won at the end of the 2020-2021 season, ending 14 years of hegemony of Olympique Lyonnais.

I thank President Nasser Al-Khelaifi, the managers, the various staffs, the supporters and of course the exceptional group of players without whom this feat would never have been possible ” commented Olivier Echouafni, whose departure is in line with those expected from several players such as goalkeeper Christiane Endler towards Lyon, captain Irene Paredes towards Barcelona or the experienced Formiga returning to Brazil.
