Wolff not happy after qualifying: “Somewhere something is not right”

With a difference of almost three tenths of a second, Max Verstappen was able to conquer pole position. He easily outperformed both Mercedes drivers. After qualifying, team boss Toto Wolff was logically not satisfied with the result. He noticed that Red Bull was really a lot better.

“It’s a difficult weekend because we’re just short of speed. That’s the truth. It looked a lot worse than the result in the end. We need to improve in every area, there’s not a single aspect we’re not looking at.” to get better”, he explains in front of the camera of the British Sky Sports.

Asked whether the disappointing results are due to overheating tires, Wolff gives a vague answer. He doesn’t seem to know himself either. “I don’t know if it’s because of that. Maybe it’s the opposite. In his second run, Lewis managed to constantly go faster, during his third lap on a set of tires. So something is not right.”

But Wolff says he enjoys the battle with Red Bull, just like his drivers. “Yes, they enjoy this. It’s great that this is coming to us now. We’ve had seven great years. No season has felt easy, but this is a whole new level again. It’s wonderful!”, said the Austrian.
