Where will the final of Euro 2021 be played?

Where will the final of the Eurocup be played with the most venues in history? Since its inception in 1960, the European Cup of Nations had always been held in one or two countries at the most, but this year it will be held in eleven. The reason, the 60th anniversary of the founding of the tournament. Of course, only one city will have the privilege of hosting the semi-finals and the final of the European Championship: London. Wembley Stadium will be the setting for the last week of competition.

The number of spectators who will be able to attend the event is still unknown, although at the moment London has confirmed a minimum capacity of 25% for the first three games of the group stage and the round of 16. The mandatory requirement to host the public led to the fall of Dublin as the venue, being Saint Petersburg and London the ones that will host the matches scheduled in Ireland. The same happened in Bilbao, whose matches are held at La Cartuja in Seville.

London will once again be the center of European football. Thirty years later, it will once again host a European Championship final. Old Wembley, now demolished, witnessed Germany’s last title in 1996. Oliver Bierhoff’s golden goal against the Czech Republic marked the Germans’ third windup. The cathedral of football – a term popularly acquired together with San Mamés – also hosted the 1966 World Cup final, the only edition that the United Kingdom has won in its history.

Spanish football has a mix of good and bad memories at Wembley. FC Barcelona were proclaimed European champions twice at the London stadium. One in 1992 with that lack of Koeman and the last in 2009, the new Wembley just opened.

Those of Luis Enrique will have to fight very hard to obtain a place in the final. If they do, they could play at Wembley earlier, in the semi-finals. And the history of Spain in the mythical stadium is not good: a victory in eight official matches. It was last September 8 in the UEFA Nations League.
