Vietnam gets two more tickets to Tokyo Olympics | Culture-Sport

Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnamese badminton players Nguyen Tien Minh and Nguyen Thuy Linh met the requirements to participate in the Tokyo Olympicsannounced the World Federation of that sport.

Nguyen Tien Minh will compete in the men’s singles tournament, and Thuy Linh in the women’s singles.

According to the regulations, each modality admits 38 players, of which each country can only nominate a maximum of two representatives, if both are among the 16 best in the world.

Starting from 17th place, each nation can only present one athlete.

In the world rankings, Tien Minh ranks 32nd, and Thuy Linh, 25th, which secured them tickets to the Tokyo Olympics.

Thus, Vietnam secured 10 official places for the largest international sporting event in the disciplines of archery (2), badminton (2), boxing (1), rowing (1), swimming (1), artistic gymnastics (2) and taekwondo (1).

In athletics, the Indochinese country also has the participation of hurdler Quach Thi Lan, nominated by the National Federation of that sport after an invitation from the International Olympic Committee.
