The Paraguayan team rescued a great draw from their visit to the Centenario Stadium in Montevideo. But despite the great defensive work, which had almost no cracks, and that the game was played mostly on red-red ground, the numbers indicate that Paraguay was even more dangerous than Uruguay and, hence, the result could be better.

Uruguay was the team that took possession of the ball, not with such a difference over Albirroja, but they managed the actions, with 58% possession compared to 42% for Eduardo Berizzo’s team.

But transferring this to direct shots on goal, Paraguay was much more effective, despite the fact that, paradoxically, no goal was scored (not to mention the poorly disallowed goal against Celeste).

Uruguay tried 12 shots on goal by Antony Silva, but really only one was direct between the three sticks. And it did not even bother Silva, since it was a head butt from Diego Godín’s back after a cross from the right, which was weak at the hands of the Uruguayan goalkeeper.

On the other hand, the Albirroja tried only 6 shots and 5 had arc direction, 83.3%. Only one shot from Richard Sánchez that went over the bar was missed.

While Ángel Romero, Óscar Romero, Omar Alderete, Miguel Almirón and Richard Sánchez himself had their attempts that went to Muslera’s goal, being perhaps Ángel’s shot at 16 minutes of the first half the one that most demanded the Uruguayan goalkeeper.
