At the end of the third round of the US Open of golf, three men occupy the head of the standings. They are Canadian Mackenzie Hughes, South African Louis Oosthuizen and American Russell Henley.

The days go by and look the same. This Saturday, on the side of La Jolla in California, the end of the third round of the US Open of golf delivered a verdict just as astonishing as the previous two. Indeed, while there is only one day left, the prestigious event is dominated by a leading trio, namely the Canadian Mackenzie Hughes, the South African Louis Oosthuizen, who is mainly there thanks to his eagle at hole n ° 18, not to mention the American Russell Henley. However, behind these three men, the pack is not that far. Indeed, between the second and the third round, we note the nice rise in the standings of two former winners of this famous US Open golf course, who are moreover only two short lengths from the lead.

DeChambeau and McIlroy in ambush

This is the defending champion, namely the American Bryson DeChambeau but also the Northern Irishman Rory McIlroy, crowned at the end of the 2011 edition. Before joining the lead, Oosthuizen was also still in their company, at the level of the classification, but it therefore had a hole left. Of this famous top trio which has something to surprise, the South African is certainly the most experienced, he who occupies the 18th place in the world. and who notably took second place in the US Open in 2015. For his part, Mackenzie Hughes, 67th in the world, gained six places to find himself where he is. Finally, Russell Henley, 63rd in the world, continues to hang on, he who has been in the lead since the start of this 2021 edition. This US Open has certainly not delivered all its promises.
