uninspired, the Czech Republic and Croatia share the points

The Czech Republic and Croatia drew on Friday in Glasgow for their second match in Group D (1-1). Schick opened the scoring from the penalty spot while Perisic equalized in the second half.

A draw that does not suit anyone and especially not Croatia. Against the Czech Republic, Luka Modric’s teammates missed the opportunity to relaunch on the pitch at Hampden Park in Glasgow. Uninspired, they concede a logical draw (1-1) against the Czech Republic in view of the content of the match.

Facing the vice-world champions, the Czechs attacked their match without complex. They quickly circulate the ball against an apathetic Croatian midfielder. At the end of the first quarter of an hour, the Whites have largely the possession without however managing to be dangerous.

Against the course of the game, Croatia failed to open the scoring with a gag goal. Vaclik sees his clearance blocked by Rebić. The ball floats in the air before failing out of goal (21st). An action which has the merit of waking up Modric’s teammates. A combination from a corner results in a shot in the axis of Perisic. The Czech goalkeeper is vigilant (23rd).

In full Croatian strong time, the Czechs get a corner. Badly shot, he gives nothing but Schick remains on the ground, his nose bleeding. The referee awards a penalty after consulting the VAR. The Bayer Leverkusen striker wants to take justice into his own hands. The opposite is perfect (37th, 1-0). A goal that consolidates his status as the current top scorer in the Euro.

On the kick-off, Rebic has an equalizer. He inherits the ball on the left and comes alone against Vaclik, he completely misses his shot (39th).

Croatian awakening

After the break, the Croats return to the lawn of Hampden Park in Glasgow with envy. This newfound energy pays off. Found in Coufal’s back, Ivan Perisic hooks and continues with a powerful strike. Vaclik can not do anything (1-1, 47th).

The two teams alternate highlights in the second half. In turn, Croats and Czechs assault the opposing cages. Vlasic gets a chance in the box but his shot fails just to the left of the goals of Vaclik (72nd). Three minutes later, Boril sends a cross which Krmencik deflects on Hlosek. The volley does not go very far (75th).

Croatia seem to end this match a little better than their opponents, Vaclik is often called upon but rarely worried. Like this strike from Petkovic countered by the sacrifice of a Czech defender.

With only one point obtained in two matches, Croatia can tremble. Against Scotland, Tuesday, June 22, it will play its survival in the tournament. For the Czech Republic, the situation is a little brighter: with four points and the rule of four best third qualifiers, they already have one foot in eighth. However, to ensure its qualification, it will have on its way England, one of the favorites of this Euro.
